CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, applauded the New Hampshire House of Representatives for concurring on HB 564, legislation which would prohibit gun possession in K-12 schools statewide. This legislation now joins two additional gun safety bills headed to Governor Sununu, which together, would require background checks for all commercial gun sales and a waiting period for all firearm purchases.
“It’s a huge accomplishment to see these life-saving bills pass, but our work is far from over,” said Deidre Reynolds, a volunteer with the New Hampshire chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “We’re grateful to our legislators for their efforts to strengthen gun laws in our state. Now we urge Governor Sununu to step up to the plate and sign these bills into law.”
During his campaign for governor in 2016, Governor Sununu stated his support for background checks on gun sales. These bills will be sent to the governor in the coming weeks.
