Early Voting Begins Today: Moms Demand Action Urges Minnesotans to Vote for Gun Sense Candidates Up and Down the Ballot

As early voting begins in Minnesota, the Minnesota chapter of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement urging voters to make their voices heard and vote for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.

“This year’s election is life or death in Minnesota. The State Senate spent another year blocking background checks and a red flag bill that could have saved hundreds of lives just this year. Fortunately, we finally have the chance to vote them out – and our odds of flipping the Minnesota State Senate have never been better,” said Molly Leutz, volunteer with the Minnesota chapter of Moms Demand Action. “But from the presidency to the State legislature – every vote is absolutely vital. We have 116 gun sense candidates on the ballot who have vowed to make common-sense gun safety policies a top priority and with gun violence on the rise, voting for gun sense has never been more important.”

Between now and Election Day, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers will phone bank, text bank, and go door to door – through contactless lit drops – to provide information on polling locations and get out the vote for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.

Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund announced that it will spend at least $1 million between now and November 3 to flip the Minnesota state Senate to a gun sense majority and defend the gun sense majority in the Minnesota state House after the Senate blocked the House-passed background check and red flag legislation for the second year in a row. Republicans currently hold a two-seat majority in the Minnesota state Senate.
