Video Supports Student-Led “March for Our Lives” Movement and Encourages Americans to Join March for Our Lives Events in Washington, D.C., and Across the Country on March 24th

NEW YORK – Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown, today applauded the release of a new video featuring the cast members of the ABC hit sitcom, Modern Family, including Everytown Creative Council members Sofia Vergara, Ed O’Neill and Ty Burrell, as well as Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould. The video, which is viewable here, is in response to the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School – the deadliest school shooting since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook School in 2012.

The video shows the cast members on the Modern Family on set expressing support for the youth-led March for Our Lives movement and urges Americans to text MARCH to 644-33 to join a march near them on March 24.

In the wake of the recent mass shooting that brutally cut short 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and wounded more than a dozen others, organizers of the student-led March For Our Lives will take to the streets in Washington, D.C., to demand that lawmakers act to end gun violence in all its forms. More than 475 sibling marches are planned as an opportunity for those around the world to show their support for this important cause.

“Our show celebrates families, while gun violence devastates them,” said Steve Levitan, co-creator of Modern Family and member of the Everytown Creative Council. “How could we sit back and do nothing while these brave kids stand up to the gun lobby since our lawmakers won’t?”

“We are grateful to have the cast of Modern Family join and support the students demanding change during this historic moment in the gun violence prevention movement,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Students across America are committed to changing America’s culture of gun violence, and we plan to support them all the way — and that includes throwing out lawmakers who refuse to work to reduce gun violence in our schools and communities.”
