White Swan Shootings Appear to be the 11th Mass Shooting of 2019

June 12, 2019

According to news reports, five people were killed Saturday in shootings on the Yakama Reservation in Washington. Two suspects have been taken into custody and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon in relation to the reported shootings, which occurred late Saturday in the community of White Swan.

KIMA reports:

“’I’ve been here for 30 years, and I know of some four-victim homicides, but not five. I think this may be a historic high. That’s how dramatic this was. This is a big deal for us,’ said [Yakima County Sheriff Robert Udell].”

Research by Everytown for Gun Safety shows that this is at least the 11th mass shooting of 2019 and the 203nd mass shooting since January 2009. Everytown defines mass shootings as those in which four or more people are shot and killed, excluding the shooter.
