BRISTOL, Va. – The Virginia chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today issued the following statement in response to reports that Jessica Hickman was fatally shot by her estranged husband this morning in an apparent murder-suicide.

STATEMENT FROM JENNIFER HERRERA, VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH THE VIRGINIA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“We want to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jessica Hickman as well as the Bristol community. This is a tragic reminder that guns and domestic violence are a deadly combination. We know there is more we can do to prevent gun violence in Virginia and keep all families safe.”
