HOUSTON – The Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today responded to reports that a shooting Sunday night left four children injured in North Harris County, Texas. Although details are still unfolding, media reports claim two groups of teens were believed to be in a fight when someone pulled a gun and fired about a dozen shots. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the head and is said to be in critical condition. Three boys ranging in age from 13- to 16-years-old suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

“I am angry that gun violence continues to plague the most vulnerable people in our nation, especially on the one-year mark of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. I extend my heart and deepest thoughts to the families of all the children who were involved in this heartbreaking shooting. Simply put, children as young as 13-years-old should not be suffering from injuries related to gun violence. We can no longer afford to live in a country where our children pay the price for our nation’s issue with gun violence. It is time for us to stand up and demand our lawmakers do more to keep our children safe. The time to act is now.”
