Reports Indicate Five Law Enforcement Officers Were Shot, One Fatally

FLORENCE, S.C. – The South Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today responded to reports that one law enforcement officer was shot and killed and four others were injured in Florence. While details are still unfolding, local officials have indicated that the suspected shooter is in custody.

“Once again, gun violence has shattered a community in South Carolina. My heart is with the victims and their families. While we keep them in our thoughts, we must also take action to prevent further violence. There is so much more we can do to protect our communities from gun violence. The time for action is now.”
