Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers Made Nearly 280,000 Calls And Texts to Support Gun Sense Candidates in Texas
AUSTIN, Texas — Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund (“Everytown”) and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, congratulated Rep. Lizzie Pannill Fletcher after she defeated NRA-backed Wesley Hunt in Texas’ 7th congressional district.
Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund spent nearly $215,000 to support Rep. Fletcher for the U.S. House in Texas. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made nearly 280,000 calls and texts to support gun sense candidates in Texas. Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts also did virtual campaign events with gun sense candidates for Congress, including Rep. Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, Rep. Colin Allred, Gina Ortiz Jones, Candace Valenzuela, and Wendy Davis.
“Rep. Fletcher’s re-election to the U.S. House is just the latest proof that the NRA’s days of running roughshod through Texas are numbered,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown was proud to support gun sense candidates up and down the ballot in Texas, and we’re excited to work with Rep. Fletcher to pass new gun safety bills in the House.”
“Rep. Fletcher fought to keep Texas families safe in her first term in the House, and Texas voters took notice – that’s why they sent her back to Washington,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “She’s a true gun sense champion who has always put public safety before the gun lobby’s extreme agenda.”
“Texas voters know that Rep. Fletcher will keep working day-in, day-out to keep our families safe,” said Molly Bursey, volunteer with the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action. “That’s why we worked tirelessly to send her back to Washington, so she can keep fighting for us.”
