NEW YORK — Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, released the following statements celebrating Mikie Sherrill’s election as New Jersey’s next governor.
“Mikie Sherrill’s victory marks a major win for safer communities and gun violence prevention efforts across the Garden State,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown’s grassroots army pulled out all the stops to help Governor-elect Sherrill win, and we’ll work just as hard to help her build on New Jersey’s status as one of the safest states in the nation.”
“New Jersey voters just elected a governor who’s always put the safety of our families first,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill has proven she’s not afraid to stand up to the gun lobby, and we’re excited to work with her to make New Jersey’s gun safety laws even stronger.”
Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Greater Garden State launched a $500k streaming and digital ad campaign to elect Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill as New Jersey’s next governor. The spending highlighted why Jack Ciattarelli’s MAGA record was too extreme for New Jersey, including his opposition to common-sense gun safety laws.
Representative Mikie Sherrill has been a champion for gun violence prevention in Congress, fighting to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, expand access to secure storage efforts, and ensure background checks on all gun sales. She serves on the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first major federal gun safety legislation in a generation.
