Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund Made $45,000 Contribution to Independent Expenditure Effort to Elect Boyd and Protect Pennsylvania Gun Sense House Majority
NEW YORK — Everytown for Gun Safety and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, released the following statement today congratulating Heather Boyd on her election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives — a victory that secures the gun sense majority in the chamber.
“Heather Boyd’s win provides a crucial backstop against the gun lobby’s attempts to roll back common-sense gun laws favored by a clear majority of Pennsylvanians,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “We were proud to help Representative-elect Boyd’s campaign, and look forward to working with Speaker McClinton and Governor Shapiro to keep Pennsylvanians safe from gun violence.”
Everytown Victory Fund made a $45,000 contribution to the independent expenditure effort to help elect Boyd, a significant contribution for a state House race, in addition to activating its grassroots networks to help turn out the vote. Just a few weeks ago, the Pennsylvania House Judiciary committee voted to advance lifesaving gun safety legislation, including establishing an Extreme Risk law — sometimes known as a “Red Flag” law, expanding background checks, secure storage requirements, and requiring reporting of lost and stolen guns.
