Dime Doe is at Least the 15 Trans Person Killed Nationwide This Year; At Least 13 Have Been Killed With A Gun
Nearly All of the Trans People Killed This Year Have Been Black Women
ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement in response to the death of a transgender woman in Allendale County. According to reports, Pebbles LaDime “Dime” Doe was found dead in her car from a gunshot wound earlier this month.
“No one should have to die this way,” said Nicole Dietrich, a volunteer with the South Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “It’s heartbreaking to learn of yet another shooting in our LGBTQ community and our hearts go out to Dime’s loved ones as they grieve. The continued targeting of marginalized individuals is abhorrent. We will not stop fighting to end gun violence until everyone in our community is safe.”
Dime Doe is the second trans woman killed in South Carolina in recent weeks. Denali Berries Stuckey was found dead from a gunshot wound in North Charleston in late July. Dime Doe is the 14th Black trans woman killed this year.
