SHOCKING: Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) Won’t Return Donations from Gun Extremist Organization Backing Kenosha Protest Shooter

September 11, 2020

According to a report from the American Independent, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) refused to return thousands in donations from Gun Owners of America, which has rushed to the legal aid of the armed vigilante who is charged with first-degree murder for shooting and killing two protestors in Kenosha, WI after driving across state lines with an AR-15. In a statement, Roy’s spokesperson said, “We will not be returning any contributions from Gun Owners of America and we appreciate their support.”

“I’m a lifelong gun owner and hunter – I know that gun ownership and use demands common sense, responsibility, and restraint,” said Andy Greene, a volunteer with the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action. “Chip Roy’s embrace of gun extremists who demonstrate none of these traits proves how wrong he is for our district.”

Rep. Roy has long been a staunch opponent of common-sense gun safety policies like background checks on all gun sales – a policy which Texas voters, including independents (84%), gun owners (83%), suburban women (94%), and voters in battleground districts (82%) overwhelmingly support
