Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund Supported Senator Kelly As Part of a $1.4 Million Investment in Arizona this Election, Successfully Defeating Gun Lobby-Backed Blake Masters
Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers Made Over Six Million Voter Contacts to Support Gun Sense Candidates Across the Country
PHOENIX — Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as Arizona voters rejected gun lobby-backed Blake Masters and re-elected Mark Kelly to the U.S. Senate.
“For more than a decade, Senator Kelly has fought for gun safety with the tenacity of someone who knows the devastation of gun violence firsthand,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown was incredibly proud to support his campaign, and we are eager to partner with him again to keep making progress in Washington.”
“Senator Kelly is a gun sense champion who has consistently voted for policies that keep Arizonans safe, and our volunteers were proud to re-elect him,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “Senator Kelly has been a leader on gun violence prevention, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in the years to come.”
“Senator Kelly personally understands the impact gun violence has on families and our communities, and has championed gun violence prevention measures,” said Teresa Neiberg, a volunteer with the Arizona chapter of Moms Demand Action. “We are elated Senator Kelly will continue to help lead the gun violence prevention movement in the U.S. Senate, and we will have his back as we work to pass common-sense gun laws.”
Everytown spent more than $1.4 million in Arizona this election, which included support for Senator Kelly. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made over six million voter contacts through phone calls, text messages, door knocks, and more across this country this election cycle to support gun sense candidates up and down the ballot. Arizona Moms Demand Action volunteers participated in dozens of activations to support gun sense candidates, including events for Senator Kelly.
As part of its efforts this election cycle, Everytown also released polling this fall showing that the vast majority of voters in Arizona support common-sense gun safety laws, including 86% support for background checks on all gun sales. More information is available here.
