PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Rhode Island chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today issued the following statement in response to reports that a 15-year-old Central High School student was fatally shot in front of the Providence Career and Technical Academy Wednesday afternoon.

“Our chapter is heartbroken over this tragic shooting. We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of the victim as well as the Central High School community. Our elected officials can do more to protect our children and families from gun violence, and today is a reminder of how urgent this work is. Every community has the right to be safe.”
