New York Chapters of One Million Moms for Gun Control are sponsoring a Keep New York Safe Day at the State Capitol Building in Albany on Feb. 12. Details of the event were posted today, Feb. 5, by the organization’s Brooklyn Chapter.

The purpose of Keep New York Safe Day is to show support and appreciation for the work done by Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers in passing the New York SAFE Act, a gun control bill signed into law last month.

Kim Russell, National Director of Chapter Outreach, will hold a noon press conference on the Million Dollar Staircase in the Capitol Building. A Brooklyn mother and gun-violence victim is also scheduled to speak. Members will meet with state legislators in the afternoon.

The New York SAFE Act is the first piece of gun control legislation passed in the United States since the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct.
