HB 234, Signed Into Law by Gov. Kasich, Weakens Firearm Training Requirements, Allows Anyone with Permit from Another State to Carry a Concealed, Loaded Gun in Ohio
In response to Governor Kasich signing H.B. 234 into law – legislation that would weaken firearm training requirements for Ohio concealed carry permits and allow other states to set the standards for who can carry loaded guns in public in Ohio – the Ohio Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America released the following statement:
“This law is dangerous for Ohio communities that see gun violence strike all too often,” said Michele Mueller, the Ohio Chapter Leader of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “We stand with mayors, law enforcement, and other advocates who believe we should not let other states set the standard for who can carry loaded guns in Ohio. Some states like New Hampshire and Virginia have loopholes that allow convicted domestic abusers to acquire concealed carry permits. Those dangerous people will now be able to carry loaded guns in Ohio. We support the Second Amendment, and we will continue to fight for basic public safety measures proven to save lives, like criminal background checks for all gun sales.”
