New TV and Digital Ads in Georgia: Everytown Victory Fund Unveils New Ads Targeting Karen Handel as Part of $1.7 Million Ad Campaign in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District in Partnership With House Majority PAC

September 16, 2020

NEW YORK — Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund unveiled new TV and digital ads that criticize Karen Handel for siding with President Trump and the gun lobby instead of keeping Georgians safe from gun violence or protecting Georgians with pre-existing conditions. Part of a $1.7 million ad buy, the ads feature Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers from GA-06.

“Representative Lucy McBath is honoring the memory of her son, Jordan, by taking action to stop gun violence, while Karen Handel is taking money from the gun lobby and vowing to stop common-sense gun safety laws,” said John Feinblatt, head of Everytown Victory Fund. “Georgia voters are looking for leaders who care more about protecting their families than protecting special interests, which is why they’re poised to send Lucy back to Washington.”

Everytown partnered with House Majority PAC to produce the ads, which represent Everytown’s first major ad buy in Georgia this cycle. The advertising campaign includes $1.7 million in TV and digital ads, which will run across the district. A May survey of voters in 13 battleground states including Georgia showed that gun safety-themed messages were among the most impactful at moving voters’ support to Joe Biden, and that messaging focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on America’s gun violence crisis was the second most effective overall at shifting support to Biden.

This year, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund  will spend $60 million on the 2020 elections, doubling what they spent during the 2020 elections.
