New Mexico Moms Demand Action, Everytown Respond to Fatal Shooting at Public Library in Clovis

August 29, 2017

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, responded to the shooting of six people today at a library in Clovis. While details are still unfolding, reports indicate one person walked into the library and began firing, killing at least two women and injuring four other people.

STATEMENT FROM CHARLIE MOORE-PABST, VOLUNTEER WITH THE NEW MEXICO CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“Again, gun violence has made headlines in New Mexico. I’m horrified by this afternoon’s tragic shooting in our state. If you cannot feel safe in a library with your children, where can you feel safe? This tragic incident must provoke more than just thoughts and prayers. We cannot allow ourselves to become complacent. As Americans and New Mexicans, we can and should do more to prevent gun violence in America.”
