$100k Campaign Highlights 11 Moms Demand Action Volunteers Running in Critical Local Contests
RICHMOND — Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund announced a new $100,000 paid media campaign for 11 Moms Demand Action volunteers in down ballot races in Loudoun and Prince William counties. The digital ads highlight Moms Demand Action volunteers — like Erika Ogedegbe running for Loudoun County School Board, Leesburg District and Deshundra Jefferson running for Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors — who have demonstrated their commitment to preventing gun violence in their communities.
“Moms Demand Action volunteers helped make gun safety a winning issue in Virginia, so it’s no surprise that more and more of them are stepping up and running for office themselves,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Polling has shown that gun safety is a top priority for Virginia voters, and no one is better prepared to prevent gun violence than our battle-tested volunteers.
“Over the past 10 years, Moms Demand Action volunteers have proven that gun safety isn’t just good policy – it’s good politics,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “Virginia voters want elected officials who are committed to keeping their communities safe. We are so proud of our volunteers who have decided to take the next step in their advocacy by running for office and once they are elected, we are excited to work alongside them to pass and implement gun safety legislation that will save lives.”
Last month, Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund announced a more than $1.5 million paid media campaign and endorsements for the 2023 Virginia elections. Everytown is also mobilizing its grassroots army of hundreds of thousands of Virginia Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action supporters to communicate directly with voters about the stakes on gun safety in this election.
