Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense In America Supports the HB 436 Veto by Missouri Governor Nixon

July 6, 2013

nixon05_s640x596The St. Louis and Kansas City chapters of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America applaud the decision made by Governor Jay Nixon today to veto HB436, which would have made it a crime for federal agents to enforce federal gun laws in Missouri.

We also thank Missouri Rep. Stacey Newman for her tireless efforts to defeat this legislation. Just last week, Rep. Newman delivered more than 4,000 signatures against the bill to Gov. Nixon’s office.

“It is so important that the citizens of Missouri stand with Governor Nixon as he boldly does the right thing for his state,” said Melissa Brooks, St. Louis Chapter Leader of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Moms Demand Action appreciates the courage and leadership of Gov. Nixon for putting our children and families’ interests above special interests, including the ever prevalent gun lobby that continues to wield undue influence over the Missouri State Legislature.”
