Mother of the Victims also Injured in Tragic Shooting Believed to be Committed by Girls’ Father
TAKOMA PARK, Md. – Today the Maryland chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released a statement following reports of the shooting deaths of two Maryland sisters, ages four and 17-years-old, late Thursday evening in Waldorf according to WTOP.
STATEMENT FROM DANIELLE VEITH, VOLUNTEER CHAPTER LEADER WITH THE MARYLAND CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:
“There are no words to capture how tragic it is when children are murdered and my heart breaks for these girls – one a teenager, the other only four years old. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims. But we cannot let the deaths of these two sisters be in vain – their deaths must serve as a reminder that there is so much more we can do in this state and in this nation to keep our children safe and combat domestic violence. Maryland Moms Demand Action volunteers will continue the fight for better laws and policies that keep our children and families safe.”
