SB 491 Would Prohibit the Sale and Possession of Bump Stocks and Other Rapid-Fire Devices in Louisiana
A Volunteer with the Louisiana Chapter of Moms Demand Action Testified in Support of SB 491 Earlier Today
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today applauded members of the Senate Judiciary B Committee for advancing SB 491, which would prohibit the sale and possession of bump stocks and other devices that enable semi-automatic firearms to functionally be converted into fully automatic machine guns. The shooter who killed 58 people and injured over 700 more at a concert in Las Vegas used bump stocks to enhance the lethality of the firearms he used in the deadliest shooting in modern American history.
STATEMENT FROM AMY SIDERIS, VOLUNTEER WITH THE LOUISIANA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:
“We’re thrilled that members of the Senate Judiciary Committee listened to the demands of their constituents today and advanced this common-sense bill. We urge members of the full Senate to swiftly pass this legislation. And, as session continues in Baton Rouge, we hope this is just the beginning of efforts to prevent gun violence in Louisiana.”
