The citizens group March on Washington for Gun Control announced today, Jan. 17, that actress Kathleen Turner, Virginia Tech shooting survivor Colin Goddard and One Million Moms for Gun Control founder Shannon Watts will be among those speaking at their Jan. 26 rally in Washington, D.C.One Million Moms for Gun Control was founded on Dec. 14, 2012 by Indiana mother Sharon Watts. The organization has established nearly 75 branches across the country. In addition to joining the March on Washington for Gun Control, 1MM4GC’s New York City branches will hold a rally at New York City Hall on Jan. 21. The One Million Moms for Gun Control Greater Boston chapter will hold a Jan. 26 rally at the State House in Boston.
Turner is famous for her roles in Hollywood movies such as “Romancing the Stone” and “Body Heat.” According to her official website, her causes include Amnesty International and Childhelp USA.
Other speakers include U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland and Senior Pastor Dean Snyder of Foundry United Methodist Church, Washington, D.C. According to organizers, the program will also feature musical performances by Broadway and Washington actors.
