Everytown Spent $2.5 Million to Flip Virginia’s General Assembly to Gun Sense Majority in November 2019 Elections
Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund released new in-state polling and announced new multi-faceted digital ad campaigns totaling $1.25 million in five battleground states — Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania — putting state legislators “on notice” and pressuring them to pass common-sense gun safety legislation.
The new voter research found that voters across these states support stronger gun laws by a 5:1 margin and 76% of voters consider a candidate’s position on guns “very important” to their vote, making clear that in the key battleground states of Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, gun safety will be a pivotal issue during state legislative sessions and a litmus test for voters in the 2020 elections. Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund were the largest outside spender in Virginia’s 2019 elections, and will spend at least $60 million on the 2020 elections, double their 2018 election spending.
