SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement applauding the introduction of the Fix the FOID Act, which would close loopholes in state law that make it possible for people prohibited from having firearms to easily access them nonetheless.
“Across Illinois, people expect our elected officials to work together to prevent gun violence,” said Tanja Murray, a volunteer with the Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Once again, lawmakers are responding with action. We’re grateful to the lawmakers backing these sensible measures to close deadly loopholes in state law, and we’ll be pushing their colleagues in the legislature to join them.”
