TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement in response to new legislation proposed by Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried today that would take steps to improve Florida’s concealed carry licensing program, including by requiring license holders to take additional firearm training before renewing a license.
“We’re proud to support Commissioner Fried as she works to improve Florida’s concealed firearms licensing program,” said Gay Valimont, volunteer leader with the Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Making sure that those carrying concealed weapons have the proper training to do so is critical to the safety of our communities. Floridians are fortunate to have leaders like Commissioner Fried who share our commitment to working to prevent gun violence.”
