Everytown Research (And Visuals) on Gun Violence By the Numbers Available Here
HOUSTON – Today the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, responded to reports of a shooting this morning near a strip mall parking lot in southwest Houston. The alleged gunman reportedly shot and injured nine people, leaving one victim in critical condition.
STATEMENT FROM LISA BECKMAN, VOLUNTEER WITH THE TEXAS CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION:
“Today yet another community, my community, has been traumatized by a senseless act of gun violence. My thoughts are with all the victims, including my very own neighbor, and the entire Houston community as we are all reeling from this shocking incident. While details surrounding this shooting continue to unfold, the fact remains that the threat of gun violence is too common in this country. No one should ever be made to feel unsafe in their shopping malls, schools, churches or theaters. We cannot sit idly by and accept every day gun violence as our new normal. I hope this horrific act of violence spurs all Texans to action, and that we can join together to demand our lawmakers to do more to keep our families and communities safe.”
