Reports Indicate Four People Were Wounded in the Shooting
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Connecticut chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement in response to reports of a shooting outside the Bridgeport Superior Court.
“Today, more Bridgeport families are joining a club no family should have to be a part of,” said Laura Kabel, a Bridgeport resident and volunteer with the Connecticut chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Our thoughts are with all the survivors and their families. We have to do more to prevent gun violence in Bridgeport and across Connecticut.”
In Bridgeport this weekend, an 18-year-old was shot and killed at an apartment complex shooting which left another 21 year old injured, and a 16-year-old was shot in the head while in the passenger seat of a car on James Street.
Every day in the U.S. on average, 100 Americans are killed with guns, and hundreds more are shot and wounded. Fifty-eight percent of American adults or someone they care for have personally experienced gun violence in their lifetimes. More information about gun violence in Connecticut is available here.
