FRESNO, Calif – The California chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, responded today to reports of a shooting in central Fresno. While details are still unfolding, initial reports indicate a 39-year-old man fired 16 shots at four different locations, killing three people. The shooter is also reportedly a suspect in a fatal shooting outside of a motel last Thursday.
STATEMENT FROM LORI GILES, VOLUNTEER CHAPTER LEADER WITH THE CALIFORNIA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:
“Just last week, we learned of a senseless act of gun violence at San Bernardino Elementary School. Now today our state is faced with yet another horrific act of gun violence – three people shot and killed this morning. Such gun violence is altogether too common in this country. More than 90 people die and hundreds more are injured every day by gun violence. Elected officials in all levels of government must work harder to find solutions and keep our communities safer. While our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, that isn’t enough from our leaders who we put in office to protect public safety. We must continue to focus on common-sense solutions that will keep our communities safe from gun violence.”
