PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A group of Rhode Island mothers were gathering at the State House Thursday afternoon as part of a national call for stricter gun control measures.
The newly-formed chapter of “Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America,” founded after the Sandy Hook school massacre in Newtown, Conn., held a news conference that included chapter leader Aida Neary and Providence City Councilman Seth Yurdin.
Members of the group plan to talk to lawmakers prior to Thursday’s General Assembly session about gun control proposals they support at the state and national level.
Members of the national Moms Demand Action group today joined President Obama at the White House to call on Congress to reform national gun laws.
