BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Alabama chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement in response to a shooting at a Birmingham party which left seven injured by gunfire. While details are still unfolding, reports indicate one of the injured has been taken into police custody.

“I am heartbroken for all those affected by this senseless shooting at a teen party at WorkPlay Sunday night. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and all those who attended the event. This horrible news is a deadly reminder that we must do more to end gun violence, especially for those who are disproportionately impacted by it. Too many lives are on the line.”
