We urge Delph and other elected officials to reconsider Indiana’s gun laws and take action to decrease the number of gun related homicides in Indiana.
In reference to Sen. Mike Delph’s Dec. 26 letter: One Million Moms for Gun Control Indiana chapter agrees there are myriad issues surrounding gun violence. Although there is no single answer or cure, government can make gun laws more sensible. It’s not about banning guns or giving everyone a gun. It’s about being responsible for our own actions, protecting our youth and securing our community.
Over the past 30 years, loosening of gun laws has resulted in an increased number of gun-related deaths. In cities like New York, where gun laws have been tightened, the number of homicides caused by guns has gone down.
