North Dakota Moms Demand Action, Everytown Urge Lawmakers Not to Roll Back North Dakota Public Safety Laws

January 17, 2019

BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the followed statement as lawmakers hold hearings today on several bills that would weaken state gun laws. The bills being heard today include two bills, HB 1310 and HB 1325, that would allow people to carry hidden, loaded handguns in elementary, middle and high schools, certain college buildings, bars, sports arenas and other sensitive areas across the state.

“There is no good reason to weaken these public safety laws – and there are clear reasons not to,” said Cheryl Biller, volunteer chapter leader with the North Dakota chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “I hope our representatives will be asking constituents where we stand, because there are a lot of us who oppose these extreme proposals.”
