NEWS: Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action Surpass 500K Calls to Voters, with Over 50K Made This Past Week

September 21, 2020

With forty-two days left until Election Day, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, the grassroots arms of Everytown for Gun Safety, have been busy working to get out the vote for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot. This year, we’ll outspend, outwork, and outvote the NRA using every tool at our disposal.

In addition to the $60 million Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund plan to spend this cycle, grassroots volunteers are rallying together safely during the pandemic. In fact, over 1,000 Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers across the country gathered for a host of virtual campaign actions and made more than 50,000 calls this week alone.

To date, more than 530,000 calls have been made and 200,000 texts sent in an effort to help voters create their Voter Action Plan and confirm their support for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.

A Recap from Last Week:

    • The Everytown Victory Fund announced new Spanish digital ads targeting Latino voters in Texas’ 23rd congressional district slamming Congressman Tony Gonzales for his failure to support background checks on all gun sales, even after the hate-fueled shooting in El Paso that left 23 people killed and dozens more wounded.
    • Everytown Victory Fund will be spending $200,000 to run the ads on digital platforms in Texas’ 23rd district.
    • The Everytown Victory Fund released new TV and digital ads in Georgia’s 6th congressional district criticizing Karen Handel for siding with President Trump and the gun lobby instead of keeping Georgians safe from gun violence. The ad features Students Demand Action volunteers from GA-06.
    • Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund endorsed a slate of candidates for the U.S. House and Senate who have championed gun safety. Read here for more.
