August 27, 2019

TV Ads Call on Republican Senators to “Stand Up to the Gun Lobby, and Pass Bipartisan Background Check and Red Flag Laws”

NEW YORK — Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund unveiled its first round of TV ads urging Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) to “stand up to the gun lobby, and pass bipartisan background check and Red Flag laws to keep guns away from people who pose a danger to our communities.”

The ads are part of a more than $350,000 television campaign, which will include ads on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, CNN’s New Day and Fox News’ Fox & Friends and local broadcast in Colorado, Kentucky and Florida, where the Senators are home for August recess. The ads will include Spanish language spots.

“The choice facing the Senate could not be clearer: Carry water for the NRA, or stand up for the majority of Americans demanding action to address our gun violence crisis,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “We know background check and red flag laws save lives — the question now is whether our Senators have the courage to buck the gun lobby and pass them.”
