With just twenty-one days remaining until Election Day, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, the grassroots arms of Everytown for Gun Safety, are continuing to hit new outreach milestones in their efforts to get out the vote for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.
To date, volunteers have made more than 800,000 calls and held over 6,600 events, with more than 23,000 individual shifts worked, to help voters create their Voter Action Plan and confirm their support for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot. In the past week alone, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made over 60,000 calls and sent 170,000 text messages.
In addition, last week volunteers with Students Demand Action — many of whom are too young to vote — surpassed their goal of helping over 100,000 young people register to vote ahead of the 2020 election through their student volunteer-driven virtual organizing program.

NEW AD IN TEXAS
- NEW IN TEXAS – “BAD FOR US”
- Everytown Victory Fund announced a new $200,000 digital ad buy slamming Wesley Hunt, candidate for Congress in Texas’ 7th congressional district, for his failure to support background checks on all gun sales.
- Hunt is running against Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, a gun sense candidate who has championed gun safety in the U.S. House since her 2018 election.
NOTABLE WEEKENDS OF ACTION
- TEXAS
- This past weekend, nearly 130 volunteers with the Texas chapter of Moms Demand Action gathered virtually for a Day of Action. Together, they made 12,000 calls to English and Spanish-speaking voters across Texas, helping them make plans to vote and confirming their support for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.
- GEORGIA
- Volunteers in Georgia held a Weekend of Action leading up to the start of early voting on October 12, to support gun sense candidates up and down the ballot including Jon Ossoff, Rev. Raphael Warnock, Carolyn Bourdeaux, and Rep. Lucy McBath.
- IOWA
- Volunteers with the Iowa chapter of Moms Demand Action also gathered virtually for a Weekend of Action to get out the vote for U.S. Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield. Over the weekend, volunteers reached out to thousands of voters across Iowa through calls, texts, and postcards, helping them make plans to vote and confirming their support for gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.
Students Demand Action Volunteer of the Week:
Julia Cappio is a volunteer leader with the Washington chapter of Students Demand Action in Seattle. At just 15 years old, the high school sophomore has been flexing her leadership skills by leading grassroots election efforts, including:
- Completing over 1,600 phone banking calls
- Leading 19 phone banking shifts where she lead several Students Demand Action volunteers across the country to call into priority states including Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas to help register voters;
- Participating in over 70 voter registration events as part of the Students Demand Action goal of helping to register over 100,000 voters.
