April 16, 2018

BARNSTABLE, MA. – The Massachusetts chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement in response to reports police officer Sean Gannon was fatally shot and killed while serving a warrant. A suspect is in custody and while details are still emerging reports indicate the shooter had a lengthy criminal record.

STATEMENT FROM MARGY MAHRDT, VOLUNTEER WITH MASSACHUSETTS CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“This is another deadly tragic reminder that we must do more to keep guns out of the hands of those with dangerous histories, especially in this situation where the shooter may have been prohibited from having guns. Our deepest sympathies to the officer’s family and friends as well as the Yarmouth Police Department and Cape Cod community.”
