Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers Made Over Six Million Voter Contacts to Support Gun Sense Candidates Across the Country

LOS ANGELES — Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters elected Rep. Karen Bass as Mayor of Los Angeles.

“The people of Los Angeles just elected a steadfast gun sense champion who will do everything in her power to keep Angelenos safe from gun violence,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown of Gun Safety. “Everytown is proud to count Mayor-elect Bass as a partner. We look forward to welcoming her to Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and she can count on our support as she works to keep guns out of dangerous hands.”

“Karen Bass has spent her entire career fighting for the safety of our communities,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “With her election as mayor, voters have made it clear that they trust her to use her extensive experience to lead the city of Los Angeles. We look forward to partnering with her to support the work and policies being implemented to address our gun violence crisis in Los Angeles.”

“Representative Karen Bass has always been a champion for gun safety – and as mayor of Los Angeles we know she’ll take that fight to City Hall,” said Lauren Hay, a volunteer with the California chapter of Moms Demand Action. “We’ll continue to work with her every step of the way as she fights for the common-sense gun measures that we know will lead to safer communities.”

Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made over six million voter contacts through phone calls, text messages, door knocks, and more across the country this election cycle to support gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.
