Kansas Moms Demand Action, Everytown Respond After Shooting Outside Overland Park Elementary School

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. –

The Kansas chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today released the following statement after a shooting outside Sunrise Point Elementary School in Overland Park. Reports indicate two construction workers, who were reportedly working on a playground at the school, were shot and critically injured. School is closed for the year and no students were present at the time, according to reports.

On an average day, 96 Americans are killed with guns, and hundreds more are injured. More information about gun violence is available here.

“Our hearts go out to the families of those wounded today in Overland Park. We need to continue to do all we can to prevent gun violence on school grounds and throughout our communities.”
