Video Calls on Americans to ‘Make a Plan’ to Head to the Polls for State and Federal Gun Sense Candidates

NEW YORK – Today, the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund released a new video, “Make a Plan,” featuring 20 cultural icons and influencers. Coming days before the midterm elections, the video urges Americans to make a plan to vote for Gun Sense Candidates. The video, viewable here, features creative leaders including Lily Aldridge, Will Arnett, Kevin Bacon, Ashley Nicole Black, Jaleel Bunton, Mike Colter, Michael J. Fox, Michael Franti, Jason George, Will Hoge, Padma Lakshmi, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Julianne Moore, Natalie Morales, Jodi Picoult, Tracy Pollan, Alysia Reiner, Cynthia Rowley, Susan Sarandon and Charlize Theron.

“We’re actors and artists, but we’re citizens and voters first,” said Julianne Moore, Academy Award-winning actress and chair of the Everytown Creative Council. “I’ve made my plan to vote on Election Day, November 6th, and I hope everyone else has too. Together, we can elect a gun safety majority in Congress and statehouses across the country.”

“All kids deserve to feel safe in their homes, schools and communities, which is why we’re voting for Gun Sense Candidates on Election Day,” said actors and Creative Council members Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan. “We urge all Americans to join us in making their own preparations to vote, including looking up state and federal candidates who are ready to fight for gun safety.”

The video ends with a simple call to action, asking Americans to make their own plan to vote and text “PLAN” to 644-33 to get started. The text-to-call system will help voters determine how they will vote, how they are getting to the polls and who they will be taking with them when they head to their voting sites.

This cycle, more than 3,000 candidates in 48 states — red, blue and purple — have sought and received a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction demonstrating their commitment to run on their gun violence prevention credentials. “Americans are fed up with lawmakers’ inaction on our nation’s gun violence crisis. On November 6, we’ll channel that frustration and heartbreak into the ballot box,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “We are grateful to the many cultural influencers who took part in this video to set an example for voters. Together, we can change our country and make gun safety America’s new normal.”
