SANTA FE, N.M. — Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters rejected gun lobby-backed Mark Ronchetti and re-elected Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham as Governor of New Mexico.

“Governor Lujan Grisham is a steadfast gun sense champion who has used every lever at her disposal to keep New Mexicans safe from gun violence,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown is grateful for Governor Lujan Grisham’s staunch support for gun safety, and we’re eager to work with her to pass more lifesaving laws.”

“Governor Lujan Grisham has led with gun safety in mind throughout her time in Santa Fe, and our volunteers are proud to re-elect her,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “She has proven she will do what it takes to keep New Mexico’s families safe, including through executive action, and we have no doubt she will continue to act with courage on this life-or-death issue.”

“Governor Lujan Grisham is a leader on gun safety who understands the toll that gun violence takes on our communities, and we know that she will continue to fight for common sense laws that save lives,” said Arielle Giddens, a volunteer with the New Mexico chapter of Moms Demand Action. “We’ll have her back as she continues to fight for a safer New Mexico free from gun violence.”

Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made over six million voter contacts through phone calls, text messages, door knocks, and more across the country this election cycle to support gun sense candidates up and down the ballot.
