Everytown Responds to Reports That Vista Outdoor May No Longer Produce Firearms

May 2, 2018

Vista Outdoor Announced on Tuesday That It May End the Production of Firearms but Will Continue to Sell Ammunition; Vista Would Join Dozens of Companies That Have Updated Policies on Guns After Parkland

NEW YORK – Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization, today responded to reports that Vista Outdoor may cease producing firearms. The company will continue to produce ammunition.

The announcement by Vista Outdoor follows other companies, including Citigroup, Bank of America, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Kroger that have updated their policies around gun safety in the weeks following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which took the lives of 17 students and educators.

STATEMENT FROM JOHN FEINBLATT, PRESIDENT OF EVERYTOWN FOR GUN SAFETY:

“A growing movement of American people, investors, financial institutions and retailers have embraced gun safety as a core value. The news that Vista Outdoor may stop making assault weapons and other firearms indicates that the gun safety movement is being heard loud and clear by manufacturers.”
