House Bill 582, Which Senate Approved Today, Seeks to Allow Permitless Carry in New Hampshire
CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today urged lawmakers to reject House Bill 582, a bill that would dismantle New Hampshire’s concealed carry permitting system, making it too easy for dangerous people and those with no firearms safety training to carry hidden, loaded handguns in public. The bill passed out of the Senate and next moves to Governor Maggie Hassan. Last year, the governor vetoed similar legislation.

“New Hampshire residents have a proud sporting and hunting tradition and we respect the Second Amendment, but with rights come with responsibilities to keep guns out of dangerous hands. Under current state law, concealed carry permit holders must pass a background check before carrying hidden, loaded weapons in public. House Bill 582 would gut that system and repeal core public safety standards in the Granite State. New Hampshire moms strongly oppose this dangerous legislation that will put our families in harm’s way, and we are hopeful Gov. Hassan will once again veto HB 582 when it reaches her desk.”
