NRA Took Down Its Database of Candidate Grades Because “Our Enemies Were Using That,” Effectively Admitting the NRA Brand Is Toxic Ahead of 2018 Midterms
NEW YORK – Today, Everytown for Gun Safety reposted a database of every NRA grade for candidates and elected officials dating back to 2009, in response to the NRA removing its previous grades from the website of its political action committee, the NRA-PVF, so that NRA-aligned candidates could avoid scrutiny.

When the Washington Post asked the NRA why old grades for lawmakers and candidates had been taken down, an NRA spokesperson first denied that any change had been made to the system, calling it an “IT glitch.” According to the Washington Post, another NRA employee who wished to remain anonymous offered an alternate explanation: “I think our enemies were using that.”
The NRA wanted to hide this information from the public. Everytown thinks it is important that voters see it.
