WASHINGTON — Today, after President Biden delivered the State of the Union address, where he highlighted the administration’s significant gun safety achievements, Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action, and Students Demand Action released the following statements:
“It’s no surprise that President Biden made gun safety a priority in his address, because he’s made it a priority for his Administration from day one,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown is going all out to reelect the strongest gun safety administration in history and protect the lifesaving progress we’ve made.”
“President Biden and his administration have done more to address our country’s gun violence crisis than any other presidential administration in history. And tonight only further emphasized their commitment to gun safety,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action are going to do everything in our power to ensure that we have four more years with the Biden-Harris Administration to deliver gun safety to the American people.”
“Tonight’s address sends a powerful message that President Biden is listening to our generation’s demands and taking action on gun safety,” said Jayden Speed, a member of the Students Demand Action National Advisory Board. “This administration has given young people a seat at the table and because of it, we’ve made remarkable progress to address gun violence under its leadership. There’s no question who students will be showing up for in November.”
The Biden-Harris Administration is the strongest gun safety administration in history, as evidenced by President Biden’s signing and implementation of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, launching of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, confirmation of an ATF director for the first time in seven years, historic executive actions to address gun violence, his long record of taking on the NRA and passing life-saving laws, Vice President Kamala Harris’ years of gun safety advocacy, and the unmatched gun sense cabinet they have built. President Biden has prioritized gun safety since entering office, from combating deadly, untraceable ghost guns and helping close the background check loophole, to finalization of the stabilizing arm brace rule, to the comprehensive strategy to address gun violence that includes efforts to fight gun trafficking, investments in community violence intervention programs, and more.
