Everytown and Virginia Moms Demand Action Statement on Reports of Mass Shooting at Home in Chesapeake

January 28, 2016

RICHMOND, VA. — Following reports of a mass shooting at a Chesapeake, Virginia home in which five family members were killed by a shooter who then committed suicide, the Virginia chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement. The reported victims include the shooter’s 17-year-old sister Brooke Daily, her 22-year-old brother Landon Daily, her parents Lori and Steven “Todd” and her grandmother Doris Dooley.

STATEMENT FROM JENNIFER HERRERA, VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH THE VIRGINIA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION:

“Once again, another horrific act of gun violence has occurred in Virginia. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this unspeakable tragedy and with the entire community of Chesapeake. While we are still learning about the details of this incident, we know that 88 Americans die and hundreds more are injured as a result of gun violence every day. Those figures are simply unacceptable. We can and must do more to prevent dangerous people from getting their hands on guns. Enough is enough.”
