February 2, 2019

RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country, issued the below statement calling on Governor Ralph Northam to resign.

STATEMENT FROM THE VIRGINIA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA, ON BEHALF OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION AND EVERYTOWN:

“Governor Ralph Northam’s appearance in a yearbook photo and admission of past racist behavior makes it clear that the people of Virginia need a new leader who can effectively advocate for the safety of all families, including Black and brown Americans who are disproportionately affected by gun violence. The Virginia chapter of Moms Demand Action, along with the 5.7 million supporters of Everytown and Moms Demand Action across the country, call on Governor Northam to resign so the Commonwealth can move forward.”
