South Carolina Moms, Kids Send Valentines On Gun Control To Congress

GREENVILLE, S.C. — South Carolina’s Congressmen, along with those across the country, won’t be receiving roses or chocolates this Valentine’s Day. Instead, they’re getting a heartfelt plea from moms across America, and their children. “We can’t sit back and do nothing,” says Greenville mother Erin Dando. Shortly after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Dando says she felt convicted to do something to keep her kids safe. She found a facebook page online for One Million Moms For Gun Control, and immediately sent an email to see how she could get involved. “We’re not politicians,” Dando says. “We’re just a group of moms really working to protect our children.”

As part of that effort, Dando gathered a group of neighbors and their children Friday to make homemade Valentine’s cards to send to local congressmen Trey Gowdy, Tim Scott, and Lindsey Graham. “We have one issue and it’s preventing gun violence through common sense regulation,” Dando says.
