South Carolina Moms Joins National Group to Support Stricter Gun Laws

February 27, 2013

SOUTHCAROLINABY Greg Funderburg, Fox Carolina

Shootings like the one in Connecticut last December have parents concerned. The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary even prompted an Indiana mom to start a group to stop the violence. She’s calling it, “Moms Demand Action.”

The group has quickly grown to 70,000 members with 80 U.S. chapters. The group’s main mission is to ban assault weapons that hold more than10 rounds, require background checks for all gun and ammunition purchases, and report the sale of large ammunition purchases to ATF.

The South Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action will hold a rally outside the State House this Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and the national rally is planned for March 13 on Capital Hill. You can visit their website at: http://www.momsdemandaction.org/
