Among Other Things, Bills Would Require Background Checks on All Gun Sales, Create a Red Flag Law, Limit High-Capacity Magazines
TRENTON, N.J. – Today, the New Jersey chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, applauded the New Jersey General Assembly for passing bills to help prevent gun violence, and urged the New Jersey Senate to follow suit. These bills include:
- NJ A2757, which would require background checks for all private gun sales;
- NJ A2761, which would limit magazine capacity to 10 rounds, lowering the current maximum of 15; and
- NJ A1217, which would establish a Red Flag Law that allows a court to issue a Gun Violence Restraining Order, which temporarily restricts an individual’s access to firearms when they pose a threat to themselves or others and can help prevent warning signs from turning into tragedies.
